Breweries and Wineries

Beer and wine production requires a reliable drainage system capable of handling high temperatures, fermenting residues and natural acids. B&K GROUP stainless steel solutions are based on linear channels, grates and drains with built-in slope that quickly and effectively remove excess liquids. The drainage is resistant to alcohols and cleaning agents. The construction is suited for installation in production zones, maturation cellars and bottling rooms, with emphasis on easy cleaning and durability. A major part of brewery and winery drainage are floor drain boxes used to collect spent water or finished product for further transport. Floor gullies can receive large volumes of liquid at once. The design of drains for wineries and breweries is compatible with all types of industrial floor finishes: resins, ceramic tiles, concrete etc.

Frequently asked questions

Do the drains withstand CIP cleaning in breweries or wineries?

Yes. For contact with hot CIP solutions as well as acids and alkalis we use V4A stainless steel (1.4404 / AISI 316L). The addition of molybdenum increases resistance to chlorine, acids and salt, allowing the drain to endure cyclic cleaning and disinfection.

Is the material resistant to organic acids (lactic, acetic, tartaric)?

For environments with organic acids we recommend V4A stainless steel (1.4404 / AISI 316L) — molybdenum improves resistance to acids and chlorides. For less aggressive conditions V2A stainless steel (1.4301 / AISI 304) is available. Selection is matched to the specific process.

Which linear drain performs well when floors are flooded during cleaning?

For large volumes of wash water, slot drains made of stainless steel with 8-20 mm intake slots perform well. We manufacture them in V2A or V4A, meeting hygiene requirements of breweries and wineries.

Do the drains meet hygiene requirements for food production?

Yes. Stainless steel holds PZH approval and our designs focus on easy cleaning and HACCP compliance. We are an EHEDG member, supporting hygienic design of drainage.

Will the floor around the drain withstand high temperatures and cleaning?

In heavily wet zones we use Ucrete polyurethane-cement floors resistant to temperatures up to 120 °C, as well as epoxy floors. They work well with drains in brewhouses, bottling halls and maturation cellars.

What traffic loads can floor drains and channels carry in production halls?

We offer drains in load classes from B125 to F900, selected for the movement of trolleys, pallets and vehicles in each zone. Elements are joined by TIG/MIG welding and, on request, we supply 3.1 mill certificates according to EN 10204.
